  • Finished Edge Upholstery in Tulsa

Any of y'all ever done any business here? I visited their shop (6500 S Peoria) last week, was pretty impressed in comparison with 5 other places I've checked out so far. But I'd feel better if somebody I know had some work done by them and could give me an opinion.

JD Joey Dimmett started this shop about 25 years ago with nothing but a pair of scissors a small toolbox and a partime gig at the local church and he painted apartments in the area. He died last June from cancer. He had just earned his 30 year chip from AA a few weeks before he died of liver cancer which he told me was "so ironic" JD was a first rate man. Damn fine man. Definitely in my top ten of the best human beings Ive ever met in my lifetime. And Ive met a bunch of folks in my time.

      Well

Teach, (i tried private messaging but it said your box is full) are you still working at the upholstery shop? Can I just bring seats in rather than the car?

      Thanks, James

            Hello all.

Finished Edge is going through a transition so it may or may not be a good idea to get some seat work done there right now.

There are several places where one can get good upholstery work done 918 is sort of blessed in this regard. Vanessas and Scotts are good places and there is a dude named Tony on N Lewis I believe...all are good. Ill likely land somewhere soon so hopefully Ill have another recommendation soon.

                Yeah

I'm in 580 about 70 miles south of OKC and haven't really found anybody that comes recommended down here. I won't be doing anything special, just need to get the seats redone in my 58 Ford, just decent for driving. I'll keep looking or might try one of the ones that you mentioned in Tulsa. I need to bring some stuff up for chrome plating in a few weeks anyway.

                  Just for the record.

Moss called me one week after FE fired me and I started back to work with them...and for more money. God feeds the birds!

Jason...Sherri who did your Impala seats still works there.

Awesome! She did a great job and I still love it.
Maybe I need to pull the seat out of my C5 and bring it in and see if you guys can fix it up and make it look better.

RE Finished Edge, an update from last week. Brand new Office Mgr. They jacked me around a lot on pricing, more than doubled it (!) from what I'd been told 3x previously, even by the owner two days before. I fired them on the spot not so much for the price as for not keeping their word. Glad that it happened before I'd given them the car. Moving on, and I have a referral to a one man shop in Catoosa, hoping to meet with him this week.

Comment: It is getting harder and harder to find shops who are willing to work on pre-war cars. Vanessa's has a good reputation, but wasn't interested. Ditto Southeast. I'm thinking that maybe Finished Edge may have made the same decision and just wanted me to go away. I did.
