So, my new work truck is here, and I could possibly have a chance to buy my old one...
This rough ol’ truck was about three weeks old when they hired me in 2011, I shared it with another driver a couple days a week for the first couple years, but other than that, most of its 220-some-thousand miles have been with my hands on it — oil changes every three or four thousand miles, we let the Mobil-1 RapidLube guys perform just about every service they ever recommended. The transmission shelled a year or so ago and was professionally rebuilt, it’s only been hot once due to a crack in the radiator that the bodyshop missed after the crash, and I ran the heater ‘til I could get off the highway and I got it cooled off pretty quick.
I have this feeling that a 6.0/automatic would be pretty darn cool as a donor for the ‘57 Coupe... But it ticks pretty bad when ya first start it up.
So, with a tiny bit of noise in it, is it worth it? What’s the “life expectancy” on these? Should I give it a shot, or skip it & wait for the next one?
