When I was fixing to graduate from Claremore High I was asked what I would like for my high school graduation gift from my parents! I told them I wanted an old truck to customize!
so when my dad would go bird hunting, he would keep an eye out for an old truck. He ran across one in So. Gifford Missouri. He stopped to ask if it was for sale. When he knocked on the door of this old farm house, an old man named Elmer answered. The old man was wearing bib overalls & had tobacco juice running down his chin. Daddy made him an offer of $1500! This was in 1979, mind you! That was a great price! Well Elmer said he wasn’t ready to sell the old truck so daddy went about his hunting trip. He has a local friend who drove a school bus keep a watch on the old truck. And finally Elmer decided to sell. Only thing is, is that he had forgotten what daddy offered and sold daddy the truck for $1000!
I was so excited to get my new old truck! It was a 1953 3 window half ton pickup with only 25,000 miles! I LOVED that truck and I still have it to this day!
That old truck got me into this wonderful world of custom cars !
