Going to be building a custom frame and have some questions.
Thinking of using stock 46-52 Ford front suspension - would like to set it up with transverse leaf spring suicide front end with a later model rear. Drum brakes all four corners. 300 Ford straight six and auto trans. Want to run the bottom of the cab 4-6" off the ground and maintain some semblance of cruising comfort.
Looking at various rectangular tubing and have questions.
What is the minimum thickness I need? Want it to be strong enough without needing overkill.
How much "Zee" is enough? Suicide front end - low but not stupid. Split type bones and Panhard bar.
How much "Step" is enough in the rear? Thinking transverse leaf setup with a Panhard bar and a split bone type locating arms.
If you see anything I'm thinking wrong, or you have more ideas, please let me know. I'm also planning no grill shell and open motor with the radiator in the bed, so its definitely going to be an interesting setup getting everything to fit just right. I want this nose as short as possible, along with the same length bed. Different. Fun. Toy.
