Default My Son's '61 Comet aka "The Vomet"

Don't remember all the particulars of the original thread since the Pond crash, but figured I should restart a new one. Maybe Bluedot or PeterBuilt can jump in and assist with my memories on the old pics.

PeterBuilt was interested in "finned" cars. He was hell bent on getting a '59 El Camino, Edsel or a Desoto. I wasn't too familiar with smaller finned cars. I did a Google search and noticed the early Comets were finned and basically a Falcon/Mustang, just a little different style. Once I showed him some Comet pics, he was sold. We then scoped out Craigslist and found a "field car" within an hours drive, so we scooped it up and drug it home.

**Don't remember the date we got this, but will edit it when I figure it out**

Here is Peter with his ride before we loaded it up to bring it home.

The fins and tail lights made him dig the car!

After we got it home the parts search began. We wanted to set this thing up with a sbf, stick and 9". Try and make things look original for the most part but give it some pep and attitude.

We located a guy who was putting a Coyote motor in a '65 Mustang. We ended up snagging everything under the hood, 289 plus the 3 speed, air conditioning and drive shaft. Also the front suspension to convert the stock 4 lug to 5 lug.

I'll answer, cuz Duck never visits here any more. In a word, no. Project has not been touched in nearly two years. Pete didn't wanna wait, and only seems mildly interested in hotrodding. He bailed, sold out to Donald. Pete is driving an '06 Mustang.
Donald has thoughts of at least semi-finishing the Comet, but realistically he doesn't even have time to work on his Anglia or the '55. His job teaching percussion in Coweta takes up a huge part of his time.
Quite a bit has been done for the Comet since last report. Engine rebuilt, we have a toploader 4spd, clutch. 9" Ford is already in it. Misc spare parts. I think he'd entertain a reasonable offer if you have any interest. In my opinion, he needs to be rid of it for the garage space, but that's his call.

I'd be interested in making him an offer. I'd have to sell my blazer first.

Somebody needs to do something with it. It's a shame to just let it sit.
