It is still on the stand waiting to recover $$$ from Christmas.
This is a depressing time of year for me.

Default valve covers

A guy at the shop had some Cal Custom valve covers to get rid of...
With a little work these look like they will look pretty good on the Crabmobile.

Well, the weather is getting warmer and I am getting a little more motivated.
I used paint stripper on the valve covers and got the majority of crusty old paint off of them. I took them to a buddy's shop and used his bead blast cabinet and got them looking better. I am planning on painting them black crinkle and sanding the edges of the fins. They should look pretty good and look more at home under the hood of the Impala.

Way to stay after it man, those valve covers are going to look nice. I think you have the problem nailed down and are going to have a real cool cruiser. When I put the cam button on my small block I had to dimple the crap out of the front cover to get the endplay needed.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm about ready to start ordering some parts.
I painted the valve covers black high temp wrinkle coat. If the finish looks like I want, I will sand off the ridges of the fins and they should look pretty good. I had to re-spray some areas Wednesday because the finish didn't wrinkle in a couple of spots. The rest of the covers looked great, I can't wait to see if they did right this time.

I did alot of covers like that. If you put them in the oven and get them hot before and after painting the paint crinkles up better. Also it make the paint more durable

Thanks for the tip. I think my wife would kill me if I did that in her oven. LOL All her cakes would taste like paint.
