It is still on the stand waiting to recover $$$ from Christmas.
This is a depressing time of year for me. CRAB

A guy at the shop had some Cal Custom valve covers to get rid of...
With a little work these look like they will look pretty good on the Crabmobile. CRAB

Well, the weather is getting warmer and I am getting a little more motivated.
I used paint stripper on the valve covers and got the majority of crusty old paint off of them. I took them to a buddy's shop and used his bead blast cabinet and got them looking better. I am planning on painting them black crinkle and sanding the edges of the fins. They should look pretty good and look more at home under the hood of the Impala. CRAB ![]()

Way to stay after it man, those valve covers are going to look nice. I think you have the problem nailed down and are going to have a real cool cruiser. When I put the cam button on my small block I had to dimple the crap out of the front cover to get the endplay needed.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm about ready to start ordering some parts.
I painted the valve covers black high temp wrinkle coat. If the finish looks like I want, I will sand off the ridges of the fins and they should look pretty good. I had to re-spray some areas Wednesday because the finish didn't wrinkle in a couple of spots. The rest of the covers looked great, I can't wait to see if they did right this time. CRAB

Thanks for the tip. I think my wife would kill me if I did that in her oven. LOL All her cakes would taste like paint.
