After talking to some geologists that I know and that know the area, they don't think the water table would get that high considering the alluvium, elevation and distance from the river.

I have a buddy that says that his dad was an engineer at the time and tried to convince them to duct the hvac from the building into that tomb so that it would keep it at more constant temp and humidity levels. They didn't, so we won't really know till June 15th.

Maybe it will be some huge toxic casket?

Well...if any of you guys do come down here for it, you are all welcome to hang out here. Maybe we can have a cookout or something.

I was under the impression they are going to pull the vault out of the ground and haul it complete to the Civic Center(?) and then Boyd and his crew will clean it up and try to make it run on the 19th at the official unveiling.

                Who knows for sure....

They are going to pull the lid (the lid is in 3 sections) off and remove the car. They will then fill the vault back in with gravel and sand when they are done.

The plan is to remove the lid in the next day or so to determine what they need to do to lift the car out of the ground.

On Friday at noon, they will "Open" the vault...(after it was already opened) for the media and public to witness!

Guess they don't want the public to wait around for a bunch of guys with jackhammers knocking chunks of concrete on top of the car. They will be working at night also so in case there there is not anything left, they will have time to replace the car with a "stand-in". LOL

The ceremony on Friday is when they "unveil" the car to the general public.

That is how I understand it from all the articles that I have read.

Those pictures are pretty cool... So is that the actual top of the vault that we're seein' there??

For some reason I thought it would've been *deeper* than two or three feet under the sod there. I guess that's just my inner-child-imagination; I'll never forget taking that tour of the courthouse with Mrs. R's class in 5th grade when they told us about the car in the time capsule. I've just always had a mental image of some space-age-lookin' thing way down in the ground.

I think they should tell Boyd to go suck it. There should be plenty of Oklahoman's that could get the job done. Boot him in the ass and send him back to Kalifornia. Just my 2cents...

The amazing thing to me is all the national attention it is generating...Americans are funny about time capsules though...we sorta invented the modern times concept of the time capsule though from what I understand...

Maybe they can put Boyd in the capsule and open it up in 2057.

I can't wait to see the stuff in the glove box.
